peaks island hood

Here is what I've been knitting for the past few weeks. It is the Peaks Island Hood and the pattern is by Ysolda.
It is my second hooded scarf I've made this year.

I think the first one may be be a bit more flattering on me but, let me know what you think or even how you would best wear this one. I'm thinking it would look amazing against a white or cream coat especially but I don't have one.

My Mom made me a little self conscious about the style yesterday. She wasn't intentionally trying to but, you know...and now I'm a bit nervous about wearing it.

There is a lot of moss stitch here which gives it a nice textural quality with a shell pattern on the ends. I bought the yarn at the NY State Sheep and Wool festival from Green Mountain Spinnery and the color is Ice Blue. It's the same wool and color of the original. I paired it with vintage glass buttons. The hood can be worn up or down.

I've been wanting to make a Peak Islands as well, and worrying about wearing it a bit. But looking at Ysolda's photos I think I would mainly wear it with the hood down (it looks so romantic that way!) and only put the hood up on cold winter evenings, you know, on those occasions when you're rushing home from the bus station as the snowflakes fall around you... : ) Ok, I'm getting a little carried away :D

Both look lovely, albeit different. I'd never think "wow, that looks odd" although I might say "I'd prefer that the ends were narrower". That is, however, an opinion not a fact, so it shouldn't matter. It looks pretty no matter what.

We moms do that at times. :(

i love the hood, and i love the moss stitch. if i were braver i would wear hats and scarves around my head, even in this florida heat. i swear. i am just not confident enough to pull it off. but you look perfect here. your knitting amazes me.

gorgeous! i would wear it without the buttons and throw the ends back over the shoulder more, maybe that would make it more a part of your day to day wear? nancy, we know each other from hoboken. denise dalton sent me to your sight, i have a son named desmond...love your blog!
