organic wool romper

I wish I had a baby to model this for me because this vintage style romper/playsuit is very cute on a baby. It can be worn in the summer or winter as an outer layer. I knit it with organic merino wool and I've just listed it in my etsy store. I sold the pale pink one so quickly last month at my sale. I think I'd like to try to keep this as a regular item in my store. If you have a specific size/color in mind send me a s message. I'm willing to make it up to a size 2 for now.

a day at the bazaar

My event in town this past Sunday went well with lots of people stopping by and sales higher then any fair I've done before. The event was run really well by Studio B . I am trying to conjure up some better display ideas in a small space. I need to go up, perhaps build something or allow for more clothing racks in the future. My neighbors were great too. One had handmade pajaki egg ornaments and on the other side were the girls from The Able Baker.

through the looking glass beret

This blue! I am in love. It's called, Through the Looking Glass as in Alice in Wonderland. If I may steer off topic I have wanted my daughter to dress as Alice for the past few years but, she's not buying it.

I used it in this project and I am happy I still have more to use it again. This time I thought it would be so pretty knit up into a beret for s special little lady. Perhaps I will get my own to model it for you. I will have it for sale at the Bizarre Bazaar in Maplewood, NJ on December 7th.

.....I took down the candy cane quilt photo because I just didn't like the picture. I have the worst time photographing quilts. I guess it's the size and trying to figure out how to set up the photo. I have two quilt tops and one finished quilt over the past month.

sheep and wool festival

We attended the Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY yesterday. What a day!
The weather was gorgeous, the leaves were peaking and there was so much to see and do.
I say this every year but to get the full effect you probably really need to go both days. I say this and I was there for a full six hours.

My new yarn-

I paid visits to a few of my favorites and discovered some new ones. Have you ever heard of Qiviut? I had not and, oh my 100% qiviut is so incredible to touch. I will someday purchase some and make a scarf.
I got some tips on rug hooking and felting and enjoyed watched some weaving demonstrations. I waited on line again to purchase a skein of Cephalopod yarns. Really, I should have bought more for the amount of time I waited but, the color is so pretty it was worth it. It's that really pretty blue up there.
I got some beautiful new wool, a penny rug kit and a bolga basket. We met up with some family there which is always nice.

There is tons for kids to do which is really great so I can disappear on my own a bit and shop for a while knowing they are having fun. They watched sheep herding, dog frisbee, petted animals and a new favorite panning for rocks and minerals.


I can't wait for next year.

I can't help feeling like a girl in wonderland every time I take a trip to Parcel.

dresden plate quilt

This beautiful handmade vintage dresden plate quilt came into my life last year. I bought it because I love quilts especially from this era (1930's) and the fabrics that are used in them. I also bought it for research purposes because I have a collection of dresden plates that I would like to someday turn into a quilt though I have quite a few ahead of them that have been started and should really be finished first. I wrote about them here and made a pillow with one here. You see I am very good at starting quilts but keeping the momentum is hard for me. I am writing this in hopes that this will encourage me to push forward.

This quilt is in excellent condition and it so pretty and cheerful.

doxies and a satchel

I made two of the Doxie necklaces from Wee Wonderful's new book which is full of treasures. I think I'll give one to S and one to another little dog lover for Christmas this year.




A red Cambridge Satchel for me. I actually forgot I ordered this and was really excited and surprised when the Fed Ex man came today and I saw the return address.



A devils food cake was baked today amongst lots of cooking for the first of many birthday parties that will be held for my boy this month. Yes, the lucky devil gets multiple parties. Tomorrow is a space theme and I'm hoping to turn the cake into something that resembles the moon with the icing, pearl dust and an astronaut figure. I think that will do the trick

I went to a fun vintage liquidation sale on Saturday morning thanks to hearing about it from a friend on Twitter. The woman was clearing out her online shop in her driveway and everything was $10 and under. I didn't go crazy but I did find some really nice things. I could have bought more but, you know I had to keep within a budget.

There was of course a line but, thankfully only 15-20 people waiting and some really went at it but, I sort of went through it calmly looking at most racks 3 or 4 times in case shoppers put things back or I missed something.

Of course since I didn't try things on two items are in the sewing pile to be altered or turned into something else entirely. I got 2 lovely dresses, a brown leather purse, a beaded coin purse, a wool plaid shirt for the Mr. which he already wore so that's a success, a winter coat for Scarlet that will fit a few years down the road and a white with red polka dots scarf.

Other highlights of the weekend: a bang trim, sunshine after too many rainy days, a trip to the farmer's market, a stop at one of my favorite bakeries, pumpkin picking, pony rides for Little M and Ms. S, watching the kids go through the hay maze and climb the hay mountain, chasing after my daughter who led me to playground to ride the swings followed by picking daisies. And, I finally finished knitting one sleeve of my sweater. Have I mentioned my dislike of knitting sleeves?

what's in the bag

Saturday morning after exercising I went to the rummage sale at a local church. If you know me or read my twitter you know that I really miss thrifting and flea markets but, with the ages my kids are at taking them with me would not be the same. That said, the kids were at the playground during my 45 minutes there.

It was the second weekend of the sale and I wasn't expecting much. I really only looked at the clothes and I managed to walk away with several good things and the money I spent all goes to a good cause.



A blue cashmere sweater. A few tiny moth holes but, nothing serious and if I don't wind up wearing it there is always re-purposing into winter accessories. It's a little snug.



A lambswool angora short sleeved sweater in this perfect golden pumpkin color.



A deep red silk blouse (my favorite of all) because the fit is so nice and the shade is so pretty.



A brown kick pleat Banana Republic skirt that fits perfectly (not bad for not trying on)

Some butter soft green linen napkins and an apron. It all set me back $11. Now I just need to wash and dry clean and I'm all set.
