I thought it would be need to try a paper weaving project this year and plan to have 365 flowers captured to represent each day of the year. Here is a photo I took of it a few weeks ago.

Paper and Fabric Flower Crown
Eek! So sorry. I will promise to catch up soon. I will at least make a concerted effort to try!
It's just been a ridiculous long time since my last post and of course now I decide to write and I have to pick up the kids in 5 minutes.
Quick notes:
*I have a really cute DIY today up on the blog Painted Sidewalks- the adorable S models for me.
*I've been pretty decent lately in updating my Etsy shop so please take a look and remember I do custom projects.

paper and fabric flower crown
I made this lovely floral crown as part of my Frida Kahlo costume for Halloween. I went about it without having planned it out much but incorporating various elements, colors and shapes into the design. I used crepe paper, thick tissue paper, cotton fabric, wool felt balls and a few vintage and millinery flowers that I had around the house. It's hard to see all the flowers in this image. I attached them to a headband with hot glue and the flowers that were wired were wrapped around the headband.
A couple of the flowers are from tutorials but, mostly I just cut and designed them by folding and scrunching as I went along.
I also embroidered a realistic heart to wear on my shirt.

valentine collage

I made this collage last week for my valentine after seeing the idea on Design Sponge. I chose to use die cut scrap relief imagery that I already had from D. Blumchen & Co. instead of trimming photos from magazines, vintage cards etc. and chose to use fiber board rather then cardstock. I plans to attach this to a backing and frame at some point.
The ampersand is such a great way of saying you and me.
If you are thinking of making one you still have time. It's a fast and fun project.
I have some beautiful red heart boxes to fill with candy tomorrow. And I am dreaming of a bouquet made by Amy.

crepe paper flowers

I love the feel of crepe paper. It has such a nice texture. I reacquainted myself with making paper flowers this week via instructions found on the Martha Stewart site. So far, I have tried roses (red), dahlias (blue) and pink peonies. I have a nice collection of crepe paper in the craft room and I plan to try out some more flowers soon.
Ten years ago my friend Kim and I made some for my wedding which I displayed at our place settings at the bridal party table. Our 10 year anniversary is on September 1st.
Once in a while I get really into making them. I think they are so pretty and I love them in little glass bottles. I would like to make a bouquet soon.
